In December 2024, Refuge Cities Network extended vital support to vulnerable communities across Jordan. One of the most impactful moments was our visit to a Syrian refugee camp in Al-Mafraq, near the Syrian border.
We reached 120 families living in 100 tents, distributing 400 winter blankets generously donated by a local bank.
The smiles on children’s faces as we handed out sweets and fruits were unforgettable. We also spent time listening to the camp’s chief to better understand their needs for food and warmth, beginning conversations about how we can support them more deeply in the months ahead.
A Story of Ongoing Support
In one of Jordan’s refugee neighborhoods, lives a Syrian widow who fled the war ten years ago in search of safety. Two years ago, she lost her husband and was left to care for their eight children alone, struggling each day to provide the basics.
During a recent visit, a guest met this mother and was deeply moved by her story. Without hesitation, she made a remarkable promise — to support the family with monthly aid for the next 15 years.
